Profile Information

What kind of geek are you?
A Firestarter & technological revolutionary
Why do you consider yourself a geek?
I don't. It's too commonplace to brand yourself as a geek, and I'm just not that trendy.
How did you find out about our Geek community?
Chris.pirillo.com
What are your "geeky equipment" specs?
My first computer was a Ti-99/4a, and I used it to program in BASIC and play games with. I stepped up to an Apple //e in 1985 and I flunked my first semester of college for Computer Science because I wouldn't leave the room and racked up 700$ in phone bills calling bulletin boards and playing with irc on Telnet. Somehow, I feel like I should have aced that course, given what my extracurricular activities were. q8-) I worked as a Mechanic for the next decade and built up my collection of tools, Mac and Snap-On and building my technical skills. I got into Macintosh computers and started building homebuilt PCs out of spare parts. I've also worked as a PC dismantler in Buffalo and recycled more than 75 iMacs a day, sorting computer parts to be re-used and rebuilt into other computers, tested monitors, etc. I currently work for Time Warner Cable as a Technical Support Specialist and bought my first computer straight off the shelf since I bought my Apple //e. I got a Gateway T-Series laptop.. mainly because it reminded me of my old Ti-99 in the case design, and it had the features I need. In my line of work, I've seen the evidence that things certainly come full circle eventually.

Current hardware :
Homebrewed AMD Athlon XP 1.73ghz, 1.5 GB Ram tower running Windows XP and Solaris with an Apple 19" Blue&White Trinitron.
Gateway T-1628 Laptop with 3 GB Ram, AMD Turion 64x2, 2.1 Ghz 15.4" HD LCD.
iMac v2 350mhz, 256 Mb Ram (something to play iTunes in the Kitchen with)
Mac G3 Gossamer 350 Mhz w/ 21 Inch Viewsonic (The only thing it does is play music and watch TV in the office... and serve as the Display for the PS2 w/ethernet)
Wife's PC - homebrewed PC 2.49 Ghz AMD, 2GB RAM, custom burning chrome case named Bad Magickk and twin 19" Sony Trinitron Flat CRT
An old Blue and White Mac G3 (G4 Sonnet processor upgrade)
iPod Touch
What do you want to be when you grow up?
A grey haired dirty old man with children and a wife who loves me, everything else is just the vehicle to get me there.
What makes you laugh?
a dirty limerick, when people tell me their plans and I know they're not going to succeed
What is the thing in life you treasure most?
My family
What's the geekiest thing you've ever done?
Hung out with my friends, drank Jolt Cola with NoDoz and did an all night gaming session of Legend of Zelda.
What do you do to entertain yourself?
Watch movies, MST3K, work on my computers, photography, video games
Favorite music, movies, books, shows, artists, games, people, events, hobbies, etc.?
music - Nine Inch Nails
movies - The Matrix
books - Callahan's Key
shows - Mythbusters
artists - Phil Foglio
games - World of Warcraft
people - my wife, Jamee
events - UBCon
hobbies - photography
