Personal Tech on a budget

With 3 kids (one autistic, ODD, ADHD) full time student, and always on-call; I have found my love for technology is mitigated by my paycheck. Although I have no complaints of my gross worth, every techno-bling that comes across my browser is a cry to the inner instinct of geeks everywhere. So what do you do, when your yearly tech planning is done on your tax return? Here's my thoughts.

I added a VGA USB DVI Multi Monitor External video adapter, then, using a DVI to HDMI Adapter (HDMIDVIFM-@Amazo… Continue

Geniuses among us.

Who ever thought, I could adjust 904 Dr's permissions in remote access has never used the desktop 128 function for longer than 10 minutes. I have been working on an alpha list for 6 hours have only made it to the G's. Working from home is only good when the tools are there for you to perform that work within a productive amount of time. Also the knowledge of database practices are paramount.

Being the system administrator for 4 living systems, is only accomplished when you give the person the t… Continue

If I see one More Cloud computing article.

I was datamining my recent stake of magazines (thanks to the loin gremlins) I am about 3 months behind. Everything from Information Week to CIO quarterly, to Harvard IT is talking about cloud computing. Much like every tech site I visit believes nothing on the planet exists but an Iphone.

Each of these Cloud articles talk about the same things. Security, data storage, micromanage vs loss of personal constraints. If every article in every magazine (total count was 18 today) covers the same 5 fea… Continue

The Atom kicks butt if you just try it (gamers don't waste your time)

I have to placce my first blog in this venue.
I bought the Acer Aspire One netbook after some much reading. Like anything that involves massive amounts of research for a piece of new hardware, and the plathoria of likes and dislikes (face it you will never get everyone on the net to agree on anything); I love this netbook.

Don't get me wrong, I have 4 computers, and my girlfriends 2. But I have a laptop that is my mobile media center, and a desktop for high quality gaming. But I work in a new d… Continue
