I find in actual practise that I don't use optical drives all that much. Or the printer either... I picked the Gigabyte X58 over the ASUS mainly because it still had an IDE port to hang the optical drive from, so I wouldn't waste a SATA port. :)

Stardock makes some very nice programs, no doubt about it! OTOH, they really wanted me to spend $30 on Multiplicity. Instead, I downloaded InputDirector from http://Inputdirector.com which is FREE for non-commercial use and is running now on my XP...
