It was the second half of 1984. Colin Baker played a very crabby Doctor, George Michael was still widely believed to be heterosexual and I finally wore down my parents' resolve and convinced them to get me a computer.
It was a 16K Sinclair ZX Spectrum which I would later name Harold and take to bed each night partly out of a generic fear of burglars and partly because it was my bestest friend in the whole wide world.
