What you probably need to be familiar with is a multitude of languages but more so the problem solving capabilities of a programmer rather than just knowledge. For instance, interactive scripts can be done using php, asp, java, ColdFusion, ruby on...
I think it works very well.
The graphics are not too ridiculous, you keep things simply and I suppose you're using the school colors.

Do you have the direct urls for your sky drive? If so you can still use an mp3 player that uses a playlist. And there a lot of free options out there for streaming your music from your computer.
Hi - well, it seems like they are at least not lacking in the ambition department. I have mostly used ajax and Flash to improve the user experience (of course combined with good oldfashioned DHTML) - but it worth being aware of the potential security holes you open up when for instance using ajax - and I do also believe Flex do pose some security threats. But as long as cart itself is separated from the payment module then I guess it does not hurt using a little eyecandy there. I am actually in the process of doing that myself right now. I have three websites that needs to be prepared till the end of this week where one is going to start with an interactive tutorial (probably prepared with ajax - not Flash), one website for a large conference (will probably also use ajax, but rely heavy on Flash on the backend) and a description of an R&D project (made completely in Flash). But all of these depends on external resources for handling transactions.
Hi again. Well, carts are pretty simple constructs as such. It is the ecosystem behind the code that really is the problem. I try to stay away from Flex when it comes to such timecritical solutions as carts, and even if I have implemented a couple of solutions created in Java, I prefer to use PHP these days. PHP is usually faster and simpler - and in reality just as secure as the other scriptinglanguages. This has also been a very conscious decision from my side since it pays off to focus on the part of market with the largest userbase. And that is PHP - at least for the customers I am interested in. But it seems like I am going to have change focus somewhat in the very near future as mobile solutions are coming up and I may end up having to accept employment in a large company in order to get involved in the kind of R&D I am interested in. Well, we'll see what the future brings.
Hi - I just had to drop by and check out your geeky past experiences after reading up on the discussion you had about setting osCommerce, different carts and using SSL encryption. As a person that once started out working with Intershop, then moved on to iCat - and then a number of other eCommerce applications that discussion almost brought happy tears of joy to my eyes. Hey ... but then again, I am pretty weird.
Anyway - welcome to the geek community. I am sure you just made it become even geekier. And that is no bad thing at all.
