Ubuntu 9.10 is a great system. I've been using Linux for about 5 years for my x86 computers for a change of pace and do a little beta testing now and again.

Leave the screensaver running then shut it off. I found a really neat fireplace screensaver, so I enjoy that when it's cold outside.

How to build your own Linux system

I test a lot of software. Lately I checked into Distrowatch and there is a new listing for NimbleX Linux. How this works: Download the base system at the site, add the packages (programs) you want and download the copy in *.iso format and burn your CD. Easy Peasy--The preferred desktop is in the KDE format with the Konqueror browser for web browsing. Good little mini system for the older PC or just for fun!

The DIY Guide to better skin and hair

This is a very concise and simple guide to better skin and hair.

For A.M. skin routine:

Wash with hypoallergenic soap, rinse, dry and follow with lime juice toner. Leave the toner on 10 minutes and rinse. If the lime juice seems to sting then dilute with a little water. It has to be lime though, not lemon or orange.

For P.M. skin routine

Remove all makeup before bed, then smooth olive oil onto face and neck.

This is good because you can find these things in markets practically everywhere.

From the beauty and health dept.

The salon brand won. Miracle 10 will defrizz, detangle, impart shine and generally boost lackluster locks. It goes on like a spray but works like an expensive serum. Check salons for availability.

DIY manicure find! Incoco nail polsh appliques are available at select Walgreens. These are fairly easy to apply and just might be the best solution for time management (no time for appointment, etc.) or for the DIY peeps looking for a change; these last 14 days. Lots of shades and are available online… Continue

Debian Linux on a Mac

I like Mac OSX pretty well but sometimes it gets a little slowed down. So after considering some options for PPC , I decided that a minimal CD would probably boot the G3. I had tried Ubuntu, Xubuntu, and Yellow Dog and no booting to load the operating systems, so Debian it is. The businesscard file is small but efficient. It booted into the install with no problems. The sound card drivers are installed using the "alsaconfg" in the root terminal. Slackintosh would be a good choice also, but unless… Continue
