I live in Birmingham, Al and we have had serious rain since last night. It hasn't stopped yet. Hoping it will move out tonight.

Ida came ashore near Mobile Bay in southern Alabama as a weak tropical storm with max sustained winds of 45 mph and higher gusts up to 60 mph.

- Nice to meet another weather-Geek! I volunteer at the State Emergency Operations Center in Tallahassee, FL. Our former Chairman just became the new head of FEMA in Washington, DC. I actually met him in person a few years ago. I have worked during hurricanes Ivan, Dennis and Katrina. I was in charge of maintaining the statewide hurricane shelter database and keeping it in sync with the Red Cross' database. Nice to meet you!!
