yeah you can do that Mike.
As long as the drives have the same spindle speed you should be fine.
You might want to look up how much power is needed to run your 500 drive, then see how much power the 80 enclosure is producing if it matches or is more than I don't see why it wouldn't work.
I have two hard drive enclosures, one needs a power chord and the other one needs a hard drive. the one that i have the power chord for is a Western digital 80gb and the other is a simpletech 500gb. I was wondering if i could put the 500 in the 80...
I did not start using a computer until i was 7. because i am legally blind computers make my life easier. The school i attended set aside a few hours a week for me to use a computer and before i knew it i was taking them apart to see how they work...
