A Little About Me

I am a small town girl, born and raised. I have been out of the country, unlike many in my little town. I've only just stopped dying my hair red, so I'm adjusting to life as a brunette and not a redhead. It's not easy.

Ok, back to red. I picked Cherry Chocolate this time!

I'm very excited about our President Elect. And Christmas. And Thanksgiving. I am very excited in general. There's a lot going on in my life right now, so while I may not check in every day, I am still looking in my site a few days a week.

Profile Information

What kind of geek are you?
Happy
Why do you consider yourself a geek?
Nope, and you can't make me.
How did you find out about our Geek community?
Email from Lockergnome.
What are your "geeky equipment" specs?
A dog, a bird, two boys, a house and 5 computers(gave away a few recently).
What do you want to be when you grow up?
A Walmart Greeter!
What makes you laugh?
I'm fairly easily amused...
What is the thing in life you treasure most?
My kids, my dog!
What's the geekiest thing you've ever done?
Learned to speak Klingon about 10 years ago. But, since none of my friends were as geeky as me, I never had anyone to talk to. Still, they did figure out Qaplah! Now, I'm giving serious consideration to a tattoo of the Klingon symbol.

My Foray Into Blackberry

I got a flier saying I could renew my 2 year contract almost a year and a half early from Verizon Wireless. I'm not sure why, but I started looking at phones.

My biggest criteria were that I keep a qwerty keyboard, and that it have more functionality then my LG enV. Which was very lacking considering it's name.

I realized that I was either going to get the same phone dressed up a bit differently, or I was going crackberry. Since the Storm was coming out, and was going to be relatively affordab… Continue

BB King and Joe Bonamassa!

Last night I went to this concert. It was amazing. First, me and some friends met and had margarita's. Once we got done with a pitcher plus some, we moved over to Garfield's for some more Perfect Margarita's. Once we got really good and toasty, we headed to the concert.

Joe opened. He's around my age but he's been playing with BB for 20 years! Just a master of the guitar, and his set was altogether too short.

Then came BB King and his AMAZING band. So much energy on that stage, even though he… Continue

Resist All Urges to Breed

I was paying my bills online today. I noticed that Verizon still had me down as owing money well over my usual bill by about 300 bucks. It was there last month, but it didn't show up in my bill as any extra charges. So I dismissed it as a calculation error on the website.

Well, it showed up THIS bill. My 14yr old son, Alex, you can find him in my friend list, downloaded a multitude of things, and on top of that was the cost of the download charges from Verizon. So yes, nearly 300 bucks.

Now it… Continue

Creepy Encounters

The other night I was hungry, and decided nothing would do but a Jimmy Johns sub sandwich. My friend and I went, and it's on the Strip in a local town. As we were walking across the street, I saw someone I've known for years. He's unfortunately drug addicted and an alcoholic, and he's not gotten any better in the 10+ years I've known him.

Anyhow, he's a sad case. A victim of himself and others.

So I see him, and it's been years. I'm actually surprised he recognizes me. He holds out his fist fo… Continue

Not Even a Blonde Joke Will Do

At work the other day, a registration clerk came back to the ER to register a patient. When it came time to copy the consents she walked up to our printer.

She asked, "Is it still broken?"

We replied, "We got a replacement from Cardiac Rehab."

She asked, "So this one works?"

We replied, "No, we replaced it with a broken printer."

She asked, "Oh, what do I do then?"

When we then tried to explain that we were joking, she still didn't get it. It took several minutes and explaining it differen… Continue

Ha. I love your profile about not wanting to adjust to life as a brunette. I lucked out; I was born a redhead & I'll likely stay that way until I'm dead, if family history is any way to judge (my grandma is 75 and her hair is the same color as mine). If my hair wasn't naturally red, I'd be right there shopping for colors beside you. "Cherry chocolate" sounds gorgeous.

Ha! Even more butt-huffing! Think I'm going to make up some huff-the-butt bookmarks.
Yesterday was my Dewey Day at the library - I (accidently) slapped a 12-year-old boy named Dewey - really! I talk with my hands, and he sort of walked right into one of them ... SMACK ... funny how satisfying some accidents can be.
I am so enjoying all of your Halloween pictures - can't believe it's only a month away. I always seem to work that night, and the entire town comes tumbling, dancing, clomping, slithering and galloping through - I love it!
