Well the minimum requirements for Ubuntu are: 300 MHz x86 Processor and 64 MB of RAM. However if you want to use the visual effects such as compiz fusion you need a 1.2 GHz Processor and 383 MB of RAM. It would be the best to check the requirements here: Ubuntu Hardware Requirements
