I use "Extended Fan Control" to manually set the base speed higher, as well as the temperature at which it begins to speed up and how fast it increases and at which temp it reaches full speed. This keeps everything running great, but after reading your post, I will be extra cautious. Sorry you have had the problems you have. This is my first Mac. I still love PC, especially maxed out i7 core systems running Windows 7, but, I'm in love with my Mac now. lol...
