I spend most of my time on my laptop doing whatever. I am the one everyone I know come to when they have a computer problem.
How did you find out about our Geek community?
I found one of Chris Pirillos videos on youtube and it went from there.
What are your "geeky equipment" specs?
Not running anything fancy. I got my P.C. It has XP Service Pack 1 and a video capture system that has served me well. Then I decided to buy myself a laptop. It has Windows Vista. That has caused me nothing but trouble since day one. But it could be a lot worse. It still runs pretty well.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
Film editor.
What makes you laugh?
I have a very sarcastic sense of humor. So anything sarcastic.
What's the geekiest thing you've ever done?
Started a group for AC/DC skins on BEBO.
What do you do to entertain yourself?
I listen to music and surf the net. I like being creative in making skins BEBO pages.
Music: First and foremost I am an AC/DC fan through and through. (One of the best things to ever happen to me when I saw them live), Iron Maiden (Saw them live twice), would be the other band I listen to the most. I also have become a really big fan of "Weird Al" Yankovic over the last few months. After that if I like what it sounds like I would listen to it. The following is a list of music I like to listen because it sounds really good… The Blues Brothers, Elvis, Johnny Cash, Frank Sinatra, Peter Gabriel, Meatloaf, V-Rock from both Vice Cities, Emotion from the first Vice City, The Eagles, Goldfinger, Greenday, Guns n' Roses, Kiss, Marilyn Manson (Saw him live), Megadeth, Metallica (Saw them live), Motorhead, The Lion King Soundtrack, Michael Jackson, Queen, Rammstein, The Team America Soundtrack, Thin Lizzy, Some WWE songs, Some Rap songs, All the classics from the 50s, 60s and 70s, almost any cheesy 80s music, and last but not least Christmas Music. I’m listening to Whams – Last Christmas right now. Oh I can’t wait. (As a footnote I hate dance music, I really, really hate dance music.)
Movies: You can’t beat the Disney Classics. I love those films. The old animated Robin Hood with the foxes. The Lion King, Aladdin, the list goes on. I’m also into my Sci-Fi. Any Star Trek film there all good. I love the back to the future trilogy. Back to the future 3 would be my favorite film. I also like the Die Hard films (I watch Die Hard 1 with my brother every Christmas eve), Deathproof, the Lethal Weapon films, and a film that should be on everyone’s list The Shawshank Redemption, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The new C.G.I. films, Shrek 1, 2, 3, Cars, A bugs Life, Ants and The Incredibles. I’m sure you can think of a lot more. Titanic – saw it in the old Savoy when I was 10. I will never forget that day. I love that ship and I love that film. But mostly I’m a person of the comedy. Dodge Ball, Team America: World Police, Knocked, Superbad, Anchorman and Beerfeast.
Books: Not a book reader. I can't really learn anything from a book. I have to see it and do it for myself. The only books I read are instruction manuals and the news paper when I get really board.
Thanks for the message! There are a lot of different facets to ham radio, like contesting and DXing (seeing how far your signal will go around the globe), but it is mostly about communicating with other geeky friends and playing with really cool electronic toys.
