A Personal Blog - Life=Time=Depression?

A note about this blog: I am straying from my usual format on this one. I tend not to publish much about my own personal life anymore, and this is definitely a first for me here on Geeks! I had to write this, and my reasoning for publishing it is because, even though I often feel alone in my own thoughts, I know I can't be the only one. This is not to vent; this is not to say, "Why me!?" This is not a call for help. This is, quite purely, me. If you would rather not read about me in such a peContinue

Why Can't It just Be Simple! Arrggh! - A Frustrated Rant

So I get the E-Mail today from Associated Content - My first article was accepted and they paid me $3.35 up-front for it! Sure, $3.35 isn't much, but I'm now officially a Professional Writer! :p I'm so excited, I want to write another article just to see if I'm on a roll. My topic? geeks.pirillo.com of course!

So there I am, typing away, thinking, typing... you know the deal. Then I remembered: Chris Pirillo once did a show where he explained just what it was to be a geek (a person with passion… Continue

A Few Ways Geeks! can be Improved

First let me tell you that I love geeks.pirillo.com. It's an amazing social network/online community that I feel is better than Myspace and Facebook in many ways. But as with everything in life, I have a few gripes. I hope to see the following issues considered in the near future:

1) Placement of Chris Pirillo's LifeCast
I understand that Mr. Pirillo wants all of the exposure he can get. But having his LifeCast displayed on the Geeks! homepage slows down my initial experience with the si… Continue

Dana's Review of the iPod Touch: It Is What It Is

If you have been keeping up with my blog recently, then you already know that my girlfriend bought me an iPod Touch for Valentine's Day. After having full access to it (and not being able to put it down) for a day, I figured I'd let you all know what I think of it. Sure, the title of this blog entry isn't very descriptive, but it is literal. Like my last blog, I am writing this one with my iPod Touch.

It is what it is. I mean just what I say. Don't take that as a negative comment; I LOVE this a… Continue

I have the most awesome girlfriend in the world! - My Valentine's Day blog

I am posting this blog from my new iPod touch. My girlfriend got it for me for Valentine's Day! I feel like such a dope because all I got her was a caramel apple and a canine Beanie Baby. I'll keep this one short. I just wanted to a) post a blog from my iPod touch and b) brag to you all that my girlfriend is awesome! Happy Valentine's Day!

My first server was PvP and it was very frustrating getting ganked all the time. Generally, because of that I never do it to other people. But then someone comes along and kills me and I saw "eff that i'm gonna kill every alliance I see!" But I st...

I only play PvP servers, it's way more real. I usually let lowbies live, but if they're above level 60... I really have no remorse. I don't like camping, but if they make some stupid emote before I kill them... they're camped for 3 runs.

I've never much enjoyed PvP but that's because I haven't got any lvl 80s yet & I can just bet they'll raise the cap as soon as I get there. I prefer the puzzle-solving involved in questing & scoring achievements on PvE servers. I do tend to step i...

This is in regards to my pending group, "Jailbroken iPods/iPhones Unite!". Please change the word "nerds" to "geeks" in the description. I deserve a slap for that one. I didn't even notice what I typed until I hit submit and then I couldn't edit i...

"thus", not "this". I hate this iPod auto-correction system.

Thanks for the tutorial but it was very difficult for me to read, and this understand. Please fix it up. It's very hard to comprehend what you're trying to get across with all of the run-on sentences.

Never heard of mambo or joomla. What are the advantages of using either?

Hey I may not use any of these suggestions but it's always fun to hear suggestions anyway. lol I love the sci-fi idea, although I've already thought of gotcha #1 when trying to implement the sci-fi based physics, lots of sci-fi based physics is unrealistic. Yet the physics engine is for modeling real world physics in my virtual game. Don't ask me why but I just find that funny.

Hi Dana thanks for your comment on my blog. It's nice to get some encouragement. I too get distracted by life quite alot when I try and sit down to make games. After all I've been indie developing on and off for around 5 years now (started when I was 21, I'm now almost 26 where odes the time go???).

As for making an MPORG clone it's a nice idea but MPORGs are out of my league for now. Plus I'd rather test my engine by making a game that s a bit more uniuqe and maybe takes advantage of some of the engines key featutres (i.e physics system).

Thanks for the comment on my blog post about the Logitech Speakers. Here's the link I have for them. If it doesn't work, let me know. There were only 3 remaining and he started with 9 or 10. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350138752474

You can plug them into the headphone jack in the computer.

That's awesome! My brother was coding a FFVI sequel here a while back and I was writing the music for it. I actually have the theme for Shadow's pre-Shadow self still. If you're interested, shoot me an e-mail at jteberhard@gmail.com.
