What kind of geek are you?
A geek of many ways.
Why do you consider yourself a geek?
I sit at a computer almost all day, and my favorite genre of 'entertainment' is science fiction. My favorite TV channels include the science, NGC, and history channels, and I love counterfactuals, aka what-ifs. I mod as many of my games as I can. At least a few of my computers have names, and I've occasionally had to remind myself that I don't have Jedi powers. Plus, I was called a geek by a kid for trying to overclock a Mac G3.
How did you find out about our Geek community?
From an iPod app
What are your "geeky equipment" specs?

Brains, and whatever else I must work with.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
Honestly, beats me. I have some ideas, but that's assuming I stop being a child at heart.
What makes you laugh?
What ever it is that makes me laugh.
What is the thing in life you treasure most?
Other than my computer?
What's the geekiest thing you've ever done?
The list is probably too long to compile.
What do you do to entertain yourself?
I'm a geek, so I knit for entertainment. :-D
Favorite music, movies, books, shows, artists, games, people, events, hobbies, etc.?
Music:I'm fairly open with my music, but my usual mix consists of Symphonic/Classical, Jazz, Rock, and Electronic
Artists: Craig Mullins, Rudolph Herzcog
Games: JKJA, Doom 3, Quake 4, Marathon, Sim City, Myst, Halo, Homeworld 2
Books: Dune series, Hagakure, Foundation series, whatever Star Wars books I have. I'm building on my library, but don't get to it often.
People: Anyone with an open mind, an appetite for ideas, and a love of personal freedom and the responsibility that goes with it. Oh, and geek girls, who among us can say no to a geek girl?
Movies:Star Trek, Star Wars, Tron, Fifth Element, Hackers, the Bourne Trilogy, and the Die Hard movies, Yojimbo, Bladerunner, Sneakers, and Ferris Beuler's Day Off, just to name a few. The whole list would be a bit too long.

My fellow geeks and geekettes, welcome to my first post.

I just watched, for the first time in quite a while, the movie "Sphere," and it got me thinking. I consider myself a fan of science fiction, especially the substantive material, the "good stuff," if you will. This movie actually has a trace of that at the very least. A sphere… Continue

A fellow martial artist/Star Wars/Tech Geek. Awesome. I'm a 3rd Dan in American Kenpo that loves to cross train in Aikido, Bujinkan Ninjutsu, Russian Systema, and Wing Chun Kung Fu. I blend these other arts into the Kenpo to expand, but keep the full Kenpo system as a foundation to build upon. I used to teach to the military when I was in, but now I just do some private lessons and government contracts. I see your pic and was curious what systems you work in. Martial Arts to me was started for the Geekiest reason ever. As a kid, I thought it was the closes to becoming an actual Jedi that I could. LOL..... Yeah, I know.

Actually, speaking of Star Wars, I threw a few posts on the "Group" page for Star Wars fans and would love your input.

Hope your weekend has been a great one.
