I would use WordPress. You would need to adapt your current web design for use with wordpress, via clever theming. Your current pages and navigation and such could be kept the same, if coded properly.

The easiest thing would probably be to use PHP's include function. You'll need to look at your blog's documentation to find the right URL to use though.

yea unfortunately the iMac wont dim the brightness to off like the mac laptops do, its a shame

You could try turing the brightness all the way down and making the second display the primary one by dragging the menubar in the Preferences app under Displays->Arrangement. And then dragging the movie to the other screen and full screening it.
OK so i brought a new screen the other day and i have a question? is there a way to sleep the iMac display and watch a movie on the second (new) monitor? a bit like "clamshelling" a laptop with a second display?
