When Unix, BSD, Linux, Apple, and Microsoft all compete, I win, regardless of which I choose. Anyone else agree?

What are your "geeky equipment" specs?
The works of Bob Moog served as a sort of spearhead for the electronic music revolution, as he provided the very instruments as well as concepts that these electronic musicians used, and are still using. However, he not only invented on a technical level, he made philosophic observations of his equipment and what exactly it meant to him as well. His accomplishments were obviously more than technical, or even musical for that matter; they were almost spiritual, in a sense, and in this essay I’ll make my response to the works of Robert Moog clear.

To begin, my first reaction to the subject is somewhat skeptical. It’s difficult to tell at first glance how something that deals with electronics could be seen as spiritual, but when I think further, more about the musical aspect of electronic music I come up with a different response. Music, as an art form serves many emotional purposes, such as expression (mainly for the artist) or as something to please the listener, but it also has a much greater power than that. Music can retain the feelings of memories, to a certain extent, and each song will have its own emotional tone to it, whether angry, distressed, joyful, or apathetic. My point is, that What Moog was doing was completely new to music, and the feelings created by these new sounds must have been absolutely groundbreaking.
To end, Robert Moog’s work was extremely vital towards the development of electronic music, and still carries on into the works of today’s electronic musicians. Without his work the genre may have become obscured and ceased to exist, or be taken seriously by listeners. On a technical level, the works of Moog were amazing. He truly was a pioneer in the development and distribution of music technology. On this note, I’ll end my personal response to Moog’s work.
