Keep fighting for good communities, there are few people out there who do this kind of work to build communities rather than exploit them.

Hey Chris, I have written several blog posts to this site, and I was wondering if you could consider me for Lockergnome.

Cris, I am an old fan from the days way back when you were on Screensavers on the old Tech TV. I need your help or at least if you or some of your tech support fans can help me. I am a Disabled Veteran living on a very little pension and can't afford to buy a new computer. I have an old HP Pavilion 7940 Windows XP service pack 3. I believe my problem is the hard Drive, it is taking like 15 to 20 minutes to boot up and the time is getting longer and longer. It is also making a lot of noise when it boots and as it operates. Recently I have lost the icons for the DVD and the CD. I have 512 of RAM and according to Crucial.com that is the max I can put in it. Also it's a Pentium 3. I know that it is an old computer and that it wont have support from Microsoft being that it is a XP, but like I said I cant afford a new one. I am Home Bound so the computer is one of my ways to see what is happening in the world. I can do some of the repairs on it but what I need is to know:
How do you replace a hard drive? I mean how do you transfer the Operating System and needed files? I know it will be pretty technical but if you can explain in layman terms. Do I need to buy the operating System again or can I use the one I have already? If there's anyway you can answer me in an email cause I am not able to get on-line everyday because of the computer. Sometimes I have to wait for my daughter to come home so I can borrow her Laptop so I can check my mail or when I go to the library.

I would appreciate any help you can give me and I would like to know also if you are planing to have a show on TV again.
