Unless you live under a rock, You have probably heard about the new WoW expansion called Cataclysm. There have been a lot of mixed reactions and I thought that we could all contribute our thought on the subject.

My reactions are mixed. On one hand, I am sad that they are tearing apart the first place that I ever explored in the game, the place that I grew to like. On the other hand, I am glad that they are bringing the eastern kingdoms and kalimdor back into the picture and they won't be the n00b zones anymore. Hopefully with the new race and class combo's there wont be a worgen and goblin overload. It seems like some really dont make sense like Tauren Pally -- Holy Cow (literally)

What are your thoughts?

I believe it's a good idea, but by judging the reaction, so many people are going to play a worgen (im on the horde faction) I can see an absolute overload on the alliance faction and is their waiting times for pvp weren't bad enough, it is going to be murder, not to mention the qq in the starting area.
But, only time will tell. As for the map I dont believe it will be permanent, lets look at one point of view,if they can phase the maps to that degree with the storyline, when they bring out the Emerald Dream which nozdormu is residing, he has the power to alter timelines and can put it back, so Blizz can change things at a moments notice :)

I play mostly Alliance & I think the Worgen models they've shown so far suck. The original bad guy Worgen that you encounter in Ashenvale & Silverpine Forest looked badass, but the playable Worgen just look like furries, with that slightly cringy kind of fanged smile you get when they're trying to make a badass creature look friendly. It just doesn't work. I'm definitely going to play a goblin, and unless they have a Worgen face you can select in character generation that looks like an old-school rip-your-throat-out Worgen I'll leave Worgen well alone. Gimme a mean-faced little Booty Bay Bruiser any day :-)

I think it's great that the events that are happening in the next expansion are invoking a sort of emotional response from you

I'm just waiting for Pandaren. That will be the greatest race ever to play

Honestly, I am going to love it. Yes, they are tearing apart the best zones ever that I loved, but it will give us a new edge and a new sense of love for it because everyone has to admit that going from 1- 58 about 4 times gets a little old. I am also going to love my Goblin because I get to ride around on a rocket and stuff. The worgens are going to be fun to, but I have recently went strictly Horde. So honestly I am going to try to buy the expansion the second it goes out on market. : )

You should try doing Horde on one realm & Alliance on another, and getting your fellow guildmembers to do the same so you can still be the same guild on the flipside.

This looks like a very promising expansion! Very nice story line, new profession, new races, new leveling systems, nice! I'll be getting it for sure and this time I will definitely pre-order it!

I hope there'll still be zones where you can bring a new character up from lvl 1 though - if they gut the whole of the old kingdoms & make it so there's no noob areas, they'll have to make the starting level 56 like the death knights, which kind of devalues the whole levelling process. Why not start everyone at 80 & make the game purely PVP, if that's the strategy? Nah - I want to start at level 1 with my goblin (and possibly my worgen if they sort the faces out) & do the whole thing with new quests, which is what I thought they were on about in the ads.

The entire point of the expansion is to bring the Old World up to standard with the new content of the game. This means better graphics, more level-apropriate quest rewards, less annoying escourts, and a complete map which will allow flying. The fact that they have to break the world to do it is a symbolic and a literal move, they ARE going to break it and then put it back together in a more dynamic form. I personally am very much looking forward to better starting areas and smoother lower leveling, giving you more insentive to play new characters so you can experience more unique gameplay... just like if you'd been playing one of the original races and then started up a Blood Elf, it's a whole different experience.
