XP Mode uses VirtualPC as its engine. VirtualPC doesn't virtualize a 3D card so older games that needed an older video card aren't going to run too well. However older games that don't utilize a 3D card should work fine.

only big problem with windows 7 is xp mode. it dosent work for any true native 16 or 32bit xp and prior software. good example would be dune 200 and dungen keeper 1. i was hoping not to have to run vmware to play these games but it loks like i will have too. unless anyone else has found a fix short of a full vm or dual boot.

Windows 7 32bit on the desktop and Windows 7 64bit on the laptop. The mfgr's are getting drivers out pretty fast.

I'm learning better how to use the Windows 7 Media Center. The player is better. Takes getting used to after years of working with Linux. Can hardly wait till I get my 32inch HDMI monitor. :D

I got a new laptop last week with Windows 7 64bit and so far I definitely like it.
It seems much more user friendly and has some nice touches.
I have been using Vista as my main OS since it's release and not had any problems with it at all but I must say that I do think W7 has improved on it. Not so much a new OS, more like Vista 2.0 ...same basics, less clutter and some nice new features
