Where is the best place offline to meet other geeks?

I personally suggest getting to know people when you are out at your favorite activities.

Video game shopping, conventions, and when buying computer parts are a few places I keep my eye out for single geek guys. Of course approaching them is a whole other story. :)

If you are out there involved in activities you enjoy you are more likely to meet someone that will have similar interests.

The first two disappeared after a few weeks of steady visits. The other I've known for over a year now and is a enough of a friend I was able to add her to Facebook... I've been drooling over her SO hard, but she's 12 years younger AND just got into a relationship with someone. She's moving away in June, and I'll never see her again.

I just don't have any activities that I do where there are girls around, and when there are, I'm too shy (or uninteresting) to meet anyone. =( /single tear streams down cheek =P

And still today we are great friends. It's the best place to find someone who share the same interests and you can learn from them.

Thus, it's rather hard to meet other geek women in my area...

Permalink Reply by tim todd on August 17, 2009 at 3:04pm: i'm completely convinced there are no geek girls in my area (lol the boonies of alaska) specially since i know dang near 80% of the people that live here... i'm soooooooo ready to move at the first sight of an awesome geeky girl... lol i've already visited 5 possibilities around the US (last year i went to minnesota and las vegas) only to find out 1 had a boyfriend that she didn't tell me about (that was hard to swallow since we had been talking for bout 7 years previous and while i was there i stayed with them at his house....) and the other 1 had a friend wouldn't leave her place until i came back up here then he never talked to her again.... lol been single for 5 years now... lol last gf i had lived in nova scotia visited her a few times but it just didn't work out since she got back with her previous ex.... i'm beginning to think internet is not the way to go for me, but there's really just no places to find anyone in my area... i'd like to say conventions n stuff but as darwin said, most of them aren't really geeks, or are the other 2%... quite frankly i'm at an utter loss. lol; ▶ Reply to This
