I am thinking about working for liquid web or google, liquid web does hosting for large lan parties (which I go to) and Google servers are very simple and easy to maintain. Not only that but Google has costom low power psu's with a circut for backup battery. There servers contain velcrow and costom motherboard trays.

Hi, I have done server hosting in the past but no longer doing it. I had an old pentium 3 server I made from my obsolete computer (my very first one with windows 95 on it!). It had 700mb of SD ram which also unlike older ram is the size of DDR ram, 1ghz (upgraded) pentium 3 cpu, Ati Radeon 9200, D-link low profile gb ethernet card, and sound blaster Live card. It use to be a game server till' it crashed, the I/0 controll hub (ich chipset) over heated because it was the only one without a cooler. so now I'm looking for another computer for hosting. My server ran off an old 300watt psu and a usb flash drive since all the drives were ruined in a flood. Heres a picture of it when it still worked when I first started geeks.

Hello folks. I currently manage a small network consisting of 66 users with 5 servers spread over three sites. I have been doing Admin stuff now for about 20 years. Hope I can be of help in some way.

I'm kind of a designer, gone developer, gone admin, so securing one might be over my head, but setting them up and running them is all good. :) Linux is out of my field as well :-/ I'm good on win 2k3/2k8 and I've been tooling with mac server.

It'd be cool if we were all to get together and write a list of top 10 things to do, to secure a dedicated server! (windows and linux)
