For years, there's been a war of which is better, bottled or tap? Of course, it most likely depends on your location. If you are in an area that has water service or your own well. Each has its merits. This just adds fuel to the fire for me, because we had well water growing up. It was artesian. It was cold and wonderful on a hot summer day.
I've had water service for years since moving. I've resorted to filtering my own taps as well as putting it in Pur containment systems to further filter it. Now I'm hearing that THAT doesn't do anything to rid the medicinal chemicals? Sooo what they're telling me now is that we're not able to filter out hormones in our water either? (think about all those birth control pills we women have taken for years.)
We seemed to be damned if we do and damned if we don't more and more.
For a lot of the chemicals in water the particulates are small enough to pass through a standard filtration unit. Only way I know of to get a large majority of liquefied chemicals out of a system is to use a reverse osmosis system and that adds sodium to your water.
As for the hormones and such, wouldn't UV light break down the chemicals enough to at least reduce the exposure?
I think the problem is that much of the equipment is old and not as up-to-date as it needs to be. I'm trying to see if I can get a tour of our local water service system (from the teaching perspective of course). I'll be asking that question.
IF there are any more questions, put them down here, so when and if I can get the tour...I can be sure to ask.
