I programmed a one-player poker game on my Ti-83 and -89 calculators that even scored your cards.

I only know it was running DOS and it was only a keyboard with room for 2 3,5" floppy's. Had to boot DOS from a floppy too! It also had a nice black and green monitor:).

Mine was a homebrew 486DX running Win95 on a 300-something MB hard drive. Oh, and a cartridge-type CD drive. :) I wanna say we paid $400-600 for it. No idea how much RAM it had.

What was your first computer? Mine was an Apple II+ purchased in 1977 for ~$1000, 64k memory, cassette tape program load and storage, TV for monitor......

I started with FORTRAN in 1974 on an IBM-360, followed by COBOL and PL-I. Since then I've written in lots of languages including LISP, PostScript, and XSLT. I've taught Pascal, C, and Java. I took out a loan for my first computer (a NEC running CP/M).

lol. The thing is adults have so much more experience than teens so I guess it would be interesting to see what a bunch of teens can do.

What about us old farts Thomas? Lol....I started programming in BASIC and machine code back in 1978....what a long strange trip it's been.

One thing I think that always amazes me, is that I bought my first computer (an Apple II+) for around $1,000. Almost every machine I've bought since (even though the capabilities have skyrocketed) has been between $1,000 and $1,500 with the exception of a cheap email box for my wife ~$400 and a gaming rig. What are your experiences with this sort of thing?

I've met several people like that in my day. They'll say, "I know to make a VB form." What a joke.
