That is an excellent question that many users have searched for ...

From the NMT Forums:

The Question:

Saving SMB password in Windows

I've tried searching for this but couldn't find anything.

I've got my PCH A-100 set up as a mapped network drive under Windows XP MCE. It's mapped to drive Z:.

Whenever I access the drive after a fresh boot, XP asks me for the share username/password. The username (mnt) is automatically remembered but there's no option to save the password. XP doesn't prompt for a password again until I reboot.

Does anyone know of a way to make XP remember the password for my PCH A-100 between boots?

If not, can I remove the password and are there any security implications for doing so?

Answer:
When you map the networkdrive do logon as different user (nmt/1234) and click on the reconnect at login so it will be there always.

Note: You could also change the name and password on the Popcorn Hour to the same name and password you use on windows.

Follow up note:

I tried this in vista ultimate and log in as a different user nmt/1234 didn't work. when you do this vista assumes your logon on as MACHINENAME/username for instance this machine is DINING so it was DINING/nmt
I tried creating a user name nmt on vista .. made no difference .. still asked for password. I think for the time being I'll just access the files in Network server share without mapping as a drive.
