Recently, in my research for a decent Mac OS X alternative, I came across a Miami-based company that is creating PC's(in the sense of different parts combining to make a multi-platform unit) that can run Mac OS X Leopard almost flawlessly.
Unfortunately, this company is also facing a lawsuit from Apple, in which they are defending and countersuing.

My question to you all is:

Should Mac OS X, of any distro, be allowed to be installed on any PC that is not Mac-proprietary?

I believe it should, only for the fact that I believe all data is free and open for use.

What is your take on this?

I think Apple does need to open up but I would like to see them still control it.

Mostly I want to see them pretend to shut down Psystar and Reopen it under them.

Agreed.

They should, but the way they have it going right now, they are in a position of power, so to say. Which leads me to believe that they won't open it up for hardware that isn't from Apple. If you want the pretty Mac OS, you need to buy the pretty Mac hardware too.

Unless of course you want to go the Hackintosh route, ala OSx86.

I believe they should unit while still remaining independent and maintain differences. I miss they days when nearly every program was written for windows and Mac and would love for things to go that way again. Since Mac is using intel processors, this opens the door for this. However, I don't mind using windows apps in a virtual environment, but it would be nice not to have to.
