Kung Fu, Tai Chi Chuan, Qigong, Shaolin ...

Name your favourite Kung Fu movie, Kung Fu style, Kung Fu fighter, Kung Fu game or maybe your experience in Kung Fu fighting or training.
Maybe some of you are training physical exercises like Tai Chi Chuan or Qigong, non fighting forms of Kung Fu, and maybe you can tell us some of the basics which can improve practitioner's mind and body health.
Well known Kung Fu monks from Shaolin Temple were always a mistery for "regular" people. Their skills, technique, discipline and dedication are unbeatable in compare with other Martial Arts. If you have something to say about this, go ahead. Comments, suggestions, criticism, new ideas, tutorials, recommendations and all kind of Kung Fu stories are welcome here.

I'm really looking forward to the new movie Ip Man that's coming out in December, starring Donnie Yen and based on the life of Bruce Lee's sifu. Trailer looks awesome!

My love for martial arts started when I was about 6 or 7 and was living in Guadalajara, Mexico while my dad was in medical school down there. I was riding my bike around the neighborhood and saw a man in a gi teaching karate to about 15 students in his huge front yard of his house. I begged my folks for a few pesos so that i could join them and that started my feet on the path. Soon i was learning basic blocks punches and kicks. Back in the states i started studying Tae-Kwon Do to broaden my kicking and then moved into Shotokan Karate which was powerful and very linear. After college I got into Hapkido another Koran Art that utilized the hands a bit more than TaeKwondo and then I found an Isshinryu Karate which used linear and circular flows and I learned my kobudo (wood weapons) nunchuks, staff, and the bamboo kendo swords. I then discovered Pangamot (Filipino Martial Art). This led me to Kali, Eskrima, Dumog (Filipino wrestling/submission), Panatukan (Filipino boxing), Olisi and Doble olisi. I had always learned how to hurt people but my filipino master taught that it is important to know how to heal as well - part of the balance- yin & yang you know? We studied how to relieve pain with acupressure as well as various pressure points and meridians of energy flow. I moved up to northern California and began studying Wing Chun kung fu and Doce Pares Eskrima. The Filipino arts were flavored by interaction with Chinese traders (Kuntao kun-fu), and Indonesian and Malaysian (silat) which makes for some tasty soup. =)

I also like that movie, Jackie Chan and Jet Li are my favorite actors. Jim Carrey is also a favorite, but he wasn't in the movie.

I would be a Ninja, because I would be silent.
No one knows I am there before I have taken them.
