This is just a for fun discussion, so let's not rip each other's heads off... unless you wanna take it to UT3, in which case you will die a horrible fragging death MUWAHAHAHA!

*ahem* k, enough of that...

So, long long ago, once upon a time, I had, and loved to pieces, my Voodoo3 3000 by 3dfx video card.
Then it died. /tear

I discovered through a lot of trial and error that Nvidia's GeForce series cooperated with me as well as my beloved Voodoos did, and that ATI cards rather hated my guts on multiple levels and did their damndest to make my life hell and my computer miserable.

Reversely, a good friend of mine has the exact same problem from the opposite end of the spectrum - GeForce cards hate him profusely. They have fried no less than 3 of his MBs and he hates them right back as hard as he can.
But ATIs... oh the ATIs... how they love him, obey him, listen to him, and work for him! Nothing but the most outstanding performance has been his experience with ATI cards.

As a result, we banter quite playfully about how our cards are better than the other (e.g. "You know why GeForce hates you? Cuz you're a communist!")

So, what are your preferences?
Do you like one brand over another and why for (specs aside)?
Tell us about some of your stranger experiences with different cards!

... and sometime later, I might divulge the evil secrets of the horrid, annoying CD-Rom gremlins we had to deal with later.

Ok, your turn.

NVidia. They always seem to be on top of the game and I've heard fewer overall complaints about them than ATI.

I honestly don't think that is the fault of GeForce/Nvidia. Just a hardware/setup compatibility issue. I ran into that on an older machine I tried to upgrade myself, just had to get the bigger power supply.

Somehow I think you didn't mean to reply specifically to Danny's comment..

GeForce has treated me with nothing but 100% satisfaction from day one. I'll never switch or try anything else because I have no reason to.

My two cents.

Hard to say. I think ATI. I have always preferred ATI. I have never had a problem with Nvidia, though.
