Well, now that I know that, I understand why my messages in Thunderbird aren't in my inbox anymore. *changes server to imap*
Thanks.

In the current age of SaaS (software as a service), IMAP is more handy for a lot of people, because when you connect to an IMAP server, you're seeing exactly everything that is on the server, and working directly with it - and this extends to wherever you may be accessing your mail from.
With POP, you don't work directly with what's on the server. You connect and download messages to a single computer... so you might have emails on your home computer that have been downloaded and deleted from the server, but you can't access them from anywhere but that single computer.
Basically, with POP, if you ever access your email from more than one PC, things can get out of sync REALLY easily.
Plus, with POP, you definitely won't have access to emails that you've SENT from your home PC when you're anywhere else.

@ Garrett W: Why is IMAP better?

IMAP is better than POP3, if you can use it.
