No, I didn't actually get a gift under the tree and unwrap it to find it loaded with actual sushi, but what I did get was pretty close.
It was a 40 US$ gift certificate for a local sushi place that I have yet to go to (mostly because the person who gifted it to me hasn't taken me there yet!).
One thing's for sure-I'm going to be making the most out of this tomorrow!
Did anyone else get a sushi gift certificate today?
I came even closer than you one year. My Dad gave me all the "equipment" to make my own sushi! A gift card to the market followed by the seaweed paper and rolling thingys and rice and on and on....
It was so fun! We had a sushi party and everyone learned with me!
Funny thing is, I had some ingredients (namely imitation crab meat and cream cheese cut into sticks; I already have plenty of rice and some nori) and two rolling mats on my list this year.
I got none of that, but at least I have 40 US$ worth of restaurant-quality sushi. (Too bad it'll have a hard time lasting longer than one day with my appetite for sushi-I can easily scarf down 20 pieces or so in a single meal! That's why I need to learn how to make my own sushi so badly-not only can I satiate my appetite for sushi without leaving home, but it also ends up being much cheaper that way!)
