I guess there are some out there who have managed to make a small game and thought it could be interesting to hear what kind of game it was and which program(s) they used to make it... My first game was a very simple puzzle made in adobe flash, we had to use colors, lines etc. from a painter called Paul Kle, thats why it is so ugly lol..! anyway remember had some trouble with getting it to work, you couldnt even get help from teachers because they were already busy with other students needing their help. so I got help from tutorials and from reading and made it through, you just have to give yourself time and you can make it through any problem well in most cases :) Eventhough my first game was simple and ugly I was proud that I got it to work :P

My first ever game was a tetris clone made in Java. I made it in free time I had in my 2nd year of uni since I found it quite easy. I used the Java AWT system for rendering and didn't run into too many problems.

After that I made a 2D shooter game where you played as 1 soldier and could choose a number of enemies that would be spawned to try and kill you. I sourced graphics for it online. I had some problems when trying to run on linux and eventually used a Java openGL wrapper to overcome these framerate issues.

After that I tried 3D games and have since got to a milestone in Development on my own 3D Game Engine. I've actually just updated my blog about it. Although I call all these projects games non of them were actual complete games. For instance there was no way to win of lose in most of them. However I'm more interested in getting graphics on the screen and putting in players characters ect than I am in making an actual finished game. Maybe once my 3D engine has got to a good stage I'll actually make a complete game out of it.
