Having had the Vado for a few days i am still working out the software that is in the Vado hard drive.
The good points are that it is so easy to upload to Youtube
You can use it anywhere you happen to be
And the clips are already in the software application
The Downside is that editing is very basic indeed, and i dont know if its just me but you only seem to be able to have 1 bit of music.Which means if you have a long movie you have to create 1 single track with all the music combined.
Having made a small movie using 3 clips the Vado software added Titles at the start and finish and also music.
This was auotmatticaly encoded to WMV
I then uploaded the clip to youtube and is availabe as normal or HQ only, the quality looks pretty average with quite a bit of blurring especially with high pixel content.
Will have to lok for alternative methods of editing me thinks !!
"Testing the Creative Vado HD which arrived today. Minor setback for Mac users. The .avi files are not directly compatible. Download Perian to play various types of files on your Mac. To use .avi files on iMovie, install MPEG Streamclip to your Mac to batch convert the files to MP4 before importing to iMovie.
Otherwise, .avi will upload to Flickr directly with no extra steps."
I use MPEG Streamclip to convert back to H.264 and it reduces the file size to about a half with no loss of quality.
