Having made a small movie using 3 clips the Vado software added Titles at the start and finish and also music.
This was auotmatticaly encoded to WMV

I then uploaded the clip to youtube and is availabe as normal or HQ only, the quality looks pretty average with quite a bit of blurring especially with high pixel content.

Will have to lok for alternative methods of editing me thinks !!

So is this primarily a Windows device?

I prefer to use my Macintosh for most of my work.

Macintosh uses imovie for editing movies is that correct ron ?

Ray, iMovie is available to people who get the iLife suite.

But my question relates to this particular camera.

It appeared people were saying the Vado uses wmv files? Those are Windows files.

"So is this primarily a Windows device?"

No dont thinks so Ron but here might be issues with the software, i,ll do some checking for you

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Vado uses H.264 AVI Codec but when you make a film in the onboard editing software it renders to WMV.

So this wouldn,t render in a Mac ?

WMV is a Windows standard. We don't want those on a Mac.

Ron found this on flicker ,worth a look i think

"Testing the Creative Vado HD which arrived today. Minor setback for Mac users. The .avi files are not directly compatible. Download Perian to play various types of files on your Mac. To use .avi files on iMovie, install MPEG Streamclip to your Mac to batch convert the files to MP4 before importing to iMovie.

Otherwise, .avi will upload to Flickr directly with no extra steps."

I use MPEG Streamclip to convert back to H.264 and it reduces the file size to about a half with no loss of quality.

Thanks. I have Perian already.

I just need to get MPEG Sreamclip.
