I have been thinking a lot about what I would like to see after the Wii, Xbox360 and the PS3 and I haven't really came up with much.

I do forsee Nintendo possibly taking their console back to a cartridge based media since Flash memory is getting fairly reasonable and has very fast access times. Plus there is no disk to scratch and no moving parts to fail so really it's a more cost effective choice for the end user as long as Nintendo can get the price in a very affordable range.

I really can't see Nintendo using anything over 32GB of Flash memory though for any single game unless it was a very large one, cause I don't think Nintendo is really going for the "graphical horsepower" segement like Sony and Microsoft have been, So I really honestly think Cartridges for the next Nintendo would give a nostalgia effect and plus offer great performance and storage.

The next Xbox should, and hopefully will support full 1080 HD, as well as carry an optical drive that supports media other than DVD. Also, I hope they will also ditch the ugly white and green colors, and go back to Black and Green like on the original Xbox. I would also like to see the Power Supply integrated into the unit, even if it makes the Xbox larger. I just don't like having a brick laying in my floor.

Larger hard drives would be nice as well. I would like to have the ability to possibly purchase a game online and have it download to my Xbox or If I wanted to go out and buy the actual disk. Either way I would like to be able to play the games off the hard drive. (At least I think I do?)

The next Playstation I would like to see a flatter design. Not a big fan of the whole curve. Really I don't have much to add to the next PS cause the current gen is pretty much all you need in a console of course with a few minor hardware upgrades to future proof the system.

I would like to see built in Super HD, since it is coming to the market within the next 2 - 3 years and it would be nice for the graphics to be crystal clear.

Honestly, the nintendo console is the only one I see needing major improvements since it isn't going for pure graphical dominance. I do enjoy playing my current gen consoles, but I think they can be improved upon next go around, but all - in - all the companies have a great foundation to build and improve upon for the next gen.

What would you like to see in the Next Gen consoles?

I love the Wii, awesome thing, but I really think that 512 mb is too little for this day and age. I mean, nobody even makes 512mb memory sticks anymore (hopefully) but the system is still excellent.

As for the PS3, I hate Sony. They made it soo expensive in the beginning when they rolled it out and now they made it cheaper, but took away 2 USB ports and the card-readers. COME ON. What type of move is that. And then they discontinued the 60GB version here and now we have the watered-down 40GB. It's crazy. The system is awesome (and I have to say I find it good-look, especially in white), good games are out there, but the hardware is just worse than it was in the beginning. That is cruel and unusual punishment.

As for the XBox... I found the original hideous! It was big and lardy, soo un-cool. Now the new one looks better but what put me off was the lack of Wi-Fi. I mean, Microsoft, of ALL people, can't throw in Wi-Fi? The paying for the online playing (which while it is fun, $60 isn't really attractive) and then just the fact that there were so many problems. Red ring of death, HD failures, and the base one didn't even HAVE an HD. No HDMI, no nothing. Only good games. At least its improved over time.

OK, I have all three so called 'next gen' consoles.. The Wii - I don't mind the somewhat inferior graphics but there are just no games I'm interested in. I did pick up the Mario World, Smash Brothers and Zelda but never ended up playing much of any of them. I did like the Zelda but the graphics kind of bugged me. I have had the console since launch and last gen graphics and no online play plus a weak game selection has me wondering why I bothered.

PS3 - console hardware is fine...game selection getting better but online play just can't compare to Xbox Live though recent changes are a step in the right direction. I have only a couple games - none that I have completed. I am looking forward to Playstation Home.

Xbox 360 - Live is really well done and I am looking forward to the coming 'upgrades' though not sure about the whole avatar thing. Xbox Live is definitely a community and I have developed a good number of friendships there. Best game selection for sure. My preference in gaming is RPG and right now of the next gen systems Xbox wins there for now. There are finally enough games that I'm interested in to keep my PS2 powered off for the last few months.

I also do some PC gaming...well I play WOW.

I now own all three next gen systems and I'll say that they all have their good and bad points. The best thing to look at it what games you are interested more then anything else. I mean if the system doesn't publish the games you want then it won't be a good idea to get it.

Overall so far I'm finding I love the PS3 over the other two. While the Wii is great and fun the games are not all that interesting after a while of playing them and the graphics are not much better then the PS2. The Xbox 360 has a large range of interesting game, but the fact that you have to pay for playing online is a major turn off and the red ring of death is scary as hell. The PS3 may be expensive but so far the games are prettier and the new 80 gig system comes with 4 USB ports and the card readers are a nice extra, but the best has to be the free downloads and online play as well as being able to go online for free and even hook up a keyboard.

So in the end it all depends on user preferance more then anything else.

For Nintendo I would like to see more innovation like in the Wii and DS, and more interaction between they're home and portable console. I would obviously like more memory in the system, they honestly didn't think they'd need that much space, and graphics need to be upped, but that's like a next-gen requirement. I'm glad that Wii isn't the graphical power house the PS3 and 360 are, I don't have an HDTV or a flat screen, or progressive scan or even S-Video, so if I bought a system that's HD it wouldn't look right on my TV anyhow. Besides, people now think that graphics are everything and the Wii proves that it's not.

For Sony, I would personally like them to drop out of making consoles, I don't think an electronics company has much business in the game industry, but seeing as that won't happen unless they get blown out of the water by some other company, I would like to see them produce a system that's as small as the redesigned one they release 3-5 years after the original. Seriously the PS3 is as big as a panzer tank, and just as slow, but they need to learn that they should optimize they're technology before they fully endorse it. Seriously if the PS4 is any bigger then the PS3, its using vacuum tubes.

Microsoft has the same problems Sony has, while I don't think that electronics companies should have anything to do with the gaming industry they're still gonna be here, Their systems are big and full of over priced parts that make it expensive when it comes out and before it dies it's dirt cheap, they need to optimize they're technology before they say it's perfect. And Microsoft should keep better eyes on they're systems development, that way they don't have the Red Ring of Death Issue again. This problem occurs because they're brash and think it doesn't matter what they put out, that you'll still buy it, note this ignorance is what lead to the industry's crash in 1983.
