I get my coffee from 3 different places.
First is usually at home. I use a coffee press whenever I drink it here. Home roasted Colombian beans. Nothing is better than a good home brew.
If I'm out and about, I go to Starbucks and get a triple shot grande caramel macchiato.
If I'm on campus, I'll go to any of the book/coffee shops thats everywhere.
Considering I roast my own coffee, most of the time it's at home.
I do like to visit a local shop here called Coffee Emergency, usually to try some of the new roasts and blends Jason the owner has come up with to sell via their website.
He's become a very talented roaster & bean guru in the time I've known him since he was selling his coffee and espresso at the farmers market here.
I like local shops best. Very rarely I'll have Starbucks (usually if I'm visiting my mom...she's addicted). I only get their cold drinks though, their hot coffees always taste burnt to me.
There are a few local shops I like from time to time. I am not a big chain fan but there are a few nice Arabicas in the Cleveland area but I believe they are a local chain. Since I drink coffee almost daily, I am a mostly an at home person. After all, is any modern kitchen equipped without an espresso machine and coffee grinder?
CUPS all the way!! haha I'm defintiely an advocate of the local shop - the living room atmosphere, the people who know your name and what you usually order before you can even get to the counter, the "bring your own cup" option....all of it adds up to a great coffee experience.
I like to make my own blend. I order beans and warm them in a crock pot and then I grind them by hand. I use a French press. I also like to make chocolate covered beans for snacks.
I do go to the local shops that are owned privately. I like to try their house blend and sit and talk with my friends.
The atmosphere is usually mellow and they usually have great homemade desserts.
