Cyntax, I think the latest A series update on the Sony line are pretty nice, but I don't feel they are in the same glass as the Canon entry line or even Nikons. I've heard nothing but good about the T1i (500D) as I mentioned I am considering one myself depending on my budget. I'd like to go higher, but I would definitively be happy with the T1i. You're not going to find a tillable screen on most higher end camera and you're giving up quality in other areas on the Sony to get something that is more or less not found on more expensive cameras. I have a nice moveable LCD on my Canon S5 IS (a camera I love btw) and to be honest I never use it other than to flip it open and position it on the camera in the fashion of a fixed LCD on the back.

I currently have the Sony a300. I just took it back to the store as it started making some strange ass clicking noises when autofocusing when fully zoomed it :s. I gotta wait 4 weeks while they send it off to Sony for repair. When I get it back I'm thinking I might sell it and get either a Canon 500D (T1i) or a Nikon D5000. Maybe even the new Sony a550 when its released, although I'm not sure I want to stick with Sony now. What do you guys think? I think the Canon 500D (T1i) is almost perfect, I just wish it had a tiltable screen. I guess the high res screen makes up for it, hmmmm

It's a shame no one is actively participating in this group anymore. Has anyone purchased a new Canon lately? I'm looking for a new DSLR. It's going to be either the Canon T1i (500D), the Canon 50D (unless they come out with a 60D soon), or the very new latest and greatest 7D which looks incredible! How about you peeps...any plans?

I've own two Canon cameras, the Powershot A75 which was my first one. Also, I own the Powershot S5 IS which is really awesome. My next one will be a SLR.

I'm not a user YET... but I'm saving up for I think the Canon Powershot A620, or something like that. I think Canons are the best.

I use the Canon Powershot A590 IS. It's pretty great, though I can't focus in as much as I'd like to. I don't think it can hold any special lens. :/
