The World, or Universe of Astronomy

Astronomy is a fascinating science, and one of the oldest. In fact it's the very first natural science.

It began quiet slow, and was more philosophical than a true scientific field. Yet over time it has helped us better understand the universe. Even today there are new theories that come up, and old ones replaced.

Is there life out there besides us?
What is at the center of a back hole?
What will we do when the Sun grows to large?
What is the smallest element? if there really is such a thing.
Does a graviton exist, or is gravity just a side effect of Mass?

So many questions still remain to be answered.

Yes good group... sorry, can't stop chuckling at this article/headline...

Well DUH! Just plain damnned common sense! The Earth has been struck at least as many times as our moon by impactors.. Imapactors contain minerals , metals ext.. of COURSE there will be metoric deposits! \

I swear, I think that is up there with the research being done on why we get music stuck in our heads!

@ Natasha picture is a moon dog. Depending on where you, live you can see quite a few each year. I have seen hundreds of them. They seem to be most prevalent in the fall months.

Some are huge!!

Excellent idea for a group. It should be massive.
Here's a deep sky pic I took last month:

I would have totally joined this sooner, but just now finding out about it for some reason. Great idea for a group. Ive always had an interest in Astronomy. I could lay outside and look at the stars and the moon forever. Last night I was outside and I happen to see the ring around the moon for the first time ever. Pretty cool.
I managed to take a pic, but it was dark and my camera sucks, but you can see it somewhat. Pretty awesomeness!!!
