except that USB relies on the CPU to do the transfer so it's really rare for it for it to transfer at full speed. FireWire doesn't do that.

What ever happened to firewire 3.2 (3200) I heard about earlier this year? I would more like to see that then a supposedly faster usb. Usb 2.0 is faster than firewire 400 in theory and on paper, but in reality of every day use usb 2.0 is not as fast as the 400. Firewire is superior to usb in transferring data. Bring firewire 3.2 up and running.
