I"m concerned about the growing exotic pet trade. I'm living in Costa Rica and see the results of poachers stealing wild parrots, monkeys, iguanas, lizards, scarlet macaws, etc. from the wild for the overseas exotic pet trade. It is estimated that 90 percent of all wild animals stolen from their nests don't survive to even find homes. It's a terrible situation that is even worse in other parts of Central and South America. This is a multi billion dollar trade and I don't see how we can stop it. But I'd love to know there are others out there who might help spread the word about the realities of the exotic pet trade and bring greater attention to it so that, in some small way, we can help reduce the effects of it. There are pictures of chained wild monkeys at a tourist spot in Nicaragua. My URL is www.jeanettemcdermott.org
