Welcome to the BOINC group!

This group is all about BOINC, a program that uses your cpu when you don't need it. Many people use their pc for browsing and surfing, witch uses only a small percent of their cpu. With this program you can "donate" your cpu time to a good cause. You can chose anything from searching for extraterrestrial intelligence or helping to make climate predictions.

Comment by Marc Fokkert on January 8, 2009 at 7:42am: Tip for all boinc users with long crunching time: Get a enhanced client! Beware that this may increase cpu heat... Great improvements in time though. You can find enhanced clients here. Make sure you got the right version!!! A help is cpu-z, downloadable here. Happy Crunching!

Comment by JT on December 16, 2008 at 9:48pm: OMG, I didn't realize that there was a BOINC Group here. I originally started using SETI@HOME back in 2000 before it was moved to BOINC. It was announced some time in 2006 or 2007 that SETI was closing down & they suggested that we join BOINC. I then started using Einstein@Home for my screen saver. They then made SETI@HOME available via BOINC so I have both screen savers on a couple of my machines but I mostly use EINSTEIN@Home.
