My mom has been carrying this photo for YEARS. This was the first photo of me online. It isn't a good copy because it's a picture of the photo I took using my iphone.

Do you remember your first photo? Good or bad experience?
Post your picture here and tell the story behind it.

My first time wasn't actually a good one. I didn't upload the picture, my friend scanned it and then secretly showed someone I was talking to online. wtf? I was upset bc I didn't like the picture as much as she did. Why? I'm not smiling!

Wow. Win 3.11! :)
Do you remember Word Star? My mom was still using it for documents 2 years ago on a 286 ibm. I kid you not! She had an hp but that ibm relic was still in office and being used.

I gotta find and upload the photo i took...

I will have to return when I find it, but my first pic online was a baby pic. I just started coming out of my shell a couple of years ago so not too many shots of me in circulation.

Back in 1997, I was on this chat site called wbs.net. I miss those days of Netscape Communicator 4.0 that would auto scoll the room for you. NE way they had where you could post a pic, nickname, and headline next to all of your posts. I thought at the time that was the coolest thing. Well I used the baby pic bc again, on the shy side with the real pics, and boy was i popular for it, especially with the ladies. Sorry I don't have the pic now, but believe me I am going to find it and post it here!!

JRela2000: wbs.net and netscape 4 communication--? Omg more wow's for reminding me about the oldskool... The autochat scroll was similiar to theglobe.com 1st gen chatrooms that rocked rocked. Their java guru busted out with some badass shit back in those days.

Babies! (and puppies/dogs) will always get attention - whether IRL or online... I'm not sure why, but it's gotta be the nurturing gene that draws us in. :)

Have any luck finding your baby pic?

This is a good question. I will have to think about the first photo I ever posted online. Chances are it is terrible :)

Take care.

Hi Ian!

I like your avatar, btw. I have a personal experience that relates to UFO's - not sure if there's a forum here or if I should comment in your profile. Anyway, it's for real and I still don't know what to make of it.

Thanks for coming in. Seems like we all think our photos are terrible. I'm one of them. And when I take these "mirror shots" that I'm posting - I take about 15 of them and then leave it alone for a day or two. I *have* to - or else they would all get deleted immediately bc thru my eyes, they all look awful. When I come back to them a couple of days later, usually I can find one I think is okay - and I know that I didn't like it before. It's weird. Odd. Body desmorphia. Something like that.

:)

Man, those were the days..back at theglobe..(1996 baby) ..spending hours in the javajive..what a great friend scanning that picture for you...perhaps you should scan an updated photo of Chani :P...payback..

It wasn't Chani (She wouldn't know how to scan back then) It was Shannon aka: EyeDatGirl. Remember her? She lived about 45 mins from me and had a son. She used to pimp left and right at theglobe.com and had many experiences with meeting guys online. I always felt bad for her bc I can't remember one time where it ended well. She was just the opposite of me, whereas I hid - she was all out there.

Re: the picture
I was soooooo mad at her. She took that picture from the refridgerator (it was up on the door) and said she would scan it for me. I'm like...uh, okay. Next thing I know, FO (Matt) messages me something like "I don't know why you're hiding behind that cartoon, you don't have to be so shy" I'm like...huh? WTF!?? Now someone knows what I look like??! Yeah, over reacted but I couldn't help it. I wasn't in control. That's what is frightening, to me. Sooooo anyway, I learned to combat the fear of being noticed by scannning all kinds of pictures of me and spreading them nationwide. hah.

lol

well, you know me well enough. Those were the days, though. Dammmn. Lots of fun...

Here is ONE of the first photos I ever posted online, of me. It was years ago. Although this photo wasn't exactly the first, I remember a lot of people asking me how I did it. I just wanted to make a pic that animated me being "whited out", LOL.

Gosh, I was so cheesy back then, happy to be discovering the Internet, not yet too cynical of the world, and still absorbing it all.

I was messing around online a lot, back when mp3's were traded under the table, hush-hush style, at underground websites. I remember chatting in the K-Swiss and Excite.com chat rooms a lot, and I think that was close to around the same time as I discovered the Globe.com, too.
