Download Our Windows 7 Tips!

I am one of those people who live way too far away from any Apple Store/reseller (200 miles.) So, I stayed on my big fat bum and pre-ordered from the apple store for £25.

So before it arrives in the post, what are your experience with Snow Leopard? What was the installation/upgrade like? Is the interface more snappier? etc.

EDIT: I got my copy of Snow Leopard last week, and I've been playing around with it on that time. My experiences are exactly what Apple says it would be ... Brilliant upgrade process no problems so far. The experience of Snow Leopard is exactly the same as Leopard with less errors (for me) and improved performance (yes increased performance on GMA 950 Macbook!) So in short my experiences are exactly what the Mac experience should be ... Brilliant!

Installation was smooth and simple, and only took 45 minutes on both my MBP and iMac.

It's a very nice upgrade, I love the new-look expose with the minimised window bar, scrolling stacks are really useful on my MBP 13" screen, and everything feels a little nicer and a little quicker. Nothing revolutionary, more evolutionary, but really nice.

Yea I'd agree with Martin. Its just an evolution, still feels like Leopard just a better Leopard. A lot of PC users seem to want to call it a service pack. But if you follow the line of thinking they use for it, Windows 7 is kind of a service pack too just a big one... Snow Leopard and Windows 7 are just really an evolution of their predecessor. They aren't a revolutionary thing like Leopard was to Tiger or how Windows XP was to Windows 2000. That being said I think Snow Leopard is worth getting for a Mac user and Windows 7 is worth getting to PC users especially if that user is running Windows XP

well i downloaded today the GM, yea i know...i have already ordered, i was tired to w8, should be here in a couple of days...aniway is a nice boost from leopard, start up is almost the same, shutdown, is noticable faster, and also exposè and overall experience, i found that open windows in finder is slower than before indeed, i used to open multiple folders at the same time, just to show the speed at some friends, now is noticable slower, i dunno why.
safari is faster, itunes is the same, most appz are now at 64bit.
someone sayd that msn have problems with fonts, as you can see:

its all ok here, the problems was that msn pre-beta work only with english languages files, and you need to remove all the rest manually, in leopard was easy, (cmd+i) remove all but english, in snow, you can use xslimmer or clean my mac.
what i miss now is the possibilities of customize osx in leopard, was possible, in snow leopard ....well i still working on it, i still hope in a shapeshifter version for snow.
overall im happy with new functions, and i gain alot of space also, im w8 the 10.6.1 to judge

WOW! That thing actually works for you! I guess it was just a problem for me, then.

i told you the possibilities are, two as i know this version is buggy, first your application have still some others language files more than english inside, you can remove those with "clean my mac"
only english should be there.
another possibilities, is that SL implemented a tool that change some char to a symbols, you should watch in the system preferences in this case.
i hope this help

My Snow Leopard upgrade went very well apart from reinstalling Adobe Flash 10 :P

May I ask something? Are you using Snow Leopard's FW/DNS/DHCP/EMAIL services? Where did you connect your server on your network? A topology map would help. I'm wanting to use all services but I think the server has to connect in a certain place on your LAN? Right?

Thanks So Much

At first is the animations were a little bit choppy. Must have been a bug because it was fixed in the first update. The only thing I really notice is Xcode. Xcode is a lot better in Snow Leopard along with the frameworks. Not something most people use though.
