Need a graphic card. Nvidia 260GTX ( 1GB DDR3 ) = 200$

So it will cost 600$ *Keyboard/Mouse included???

A sound card can be worth it because of better drivers support. Realtek drivers are weak.
So 50$ more for a fair sound card. C.LABS PCIE1X X-FI XTREME AUDIO OEM

more like <$150 for the gpu

if you're an audiophile go for the x-fi...otherwise onboard is fine

Not everyone is a gamer. Good system to start with, Graphics can always be gotten later if desired. The built in GPU chip on the MoBo, would be sufficient for most computing.

It does SAY "barebones" kit. :D

No keyboard, no mouse.......Need's a GPU
Could use an AM3 CPU 3ghz Dual core like 75$
Really try..however for 400$ that is a great deal 3GHZ Athlon 6000+
65NM or 45NM? either or of technology stil an excellent deal the PSU is enough to get a 9800GT Going in.
So if you want a powerful calculator like dan's here ya go.

Actually Gibson, there is "on board" graphics to start out with: ATI Radeon HD 4200.

That's not to shabby for every day use with a bit of simple media creation thrown in for good meassure now and then. It's not gaming rig but it's not exactly crap. The GPU is the weakest part but that can be improved later on as has been mentioned.

HD 4200..yuck

it's got 128MB Video memory Lol. Could at least have something decent like a 8 or 9 series chipset, i know some of the 2008 laptops that shipped with the geforce 8200M (Some new ones have it still) Had expandable video ram up to that of the geforce 295's own dedicated capacity 1792MB (1.7GB and 92MB's) It alone had a a 256-512MB GDDR3 Dedicated Video ram configurations in it's chipset. And some of the computers sold for as low as 599$ back then and cane be found in the 300-1000$Range 9 Series chipsets would be easier on the battery tho.

is this 6000+ CPU 65NM or 45NM, anything OLDER IS a big no.
3ghz Dual core? interesting 400$ Wow.
