Well,as I said in my Blog, I wanted to run a Repair from the CD to fix an installation problem and I also could not run Windows Updates. I booted from the CD and there was no Repair option to find. At least not one that runs the way that it used to from either Windows 2000 or Windows XP.
I had to reinstall and it wiped all of the already installed applications.
I hope that they change this in the Golden finale product, and don't leave it this way.
You can change it back to the old way buy doing this:
Right-click the Taskbar, go to Properties, then select "Use small icons", change the Taskbar Buttons to "Never combine" then you'll have a Vista looking sidebar.
Actually, the taskbar was one of the starting points, and something they wanted to incorporate into Vista before it was released, but came up short on time.
It's pretty nice, it runs faster than Vista on the same machine, but that may only be because I don't have hardly anything installed on the Windows 7 partition.
I'm pretty impressed at how it works on a low end machine (hyperthreaded intel p4, 1.5gb ram -.-) !!! I like the improvements, and the fact that this really is imho what Vista should have been. so, 7 beta = vista se! lol
