Macs are expensive, not overpriced. It's like getting a BMW M3 and saying it's overpriced compared to a Ford Focus. It's more expensive than the Focus, dispite on the surface being more or less the same thing, yet it's capable of things the Focus isn't, at least without tinkering around with the engine and so on, which is what Windows is, a platform that needs tinkering and tuning by the user to get the most out of it because it's at a generic performance level. In the end you get more from the BMW for your money and it'll last longer and break down less (in theory).
Well put MAX. People mistake cost and value for cost all the time, and there is an invisible cost here. Can you bring that 4-500 desktop into a best buy, oh yeah Geeksquad, and expect to get fleeced? Me thinks, "Yes" would be the answer, but a Mac that is the same age inside of a year, could be brought into an apple store, and you can expect much better attention, the truth explained of your problem, and likely repaired for next to nothing.
Better hardware, better service, more stable OS. This is what we once had in PC's when they used to cost more than 1000 on the low end. We threw all of that away for cheap pc's.
I think it is fine for people to like different things. Only thing I dislike is the need by the insecure to put down the other person's preference with slurs about their choice, or slurs directed at the other person simply for choosing to prefer something different from them.
I think its more a war between Windows and OS X, I cant play with the Windows side because on my PC-side I use Linux, and the war between Linux and Windows or Linux and OS X isn't that big than between Windows and OS X. But everybody thinks that everyone who has a PC must have windows, with that I kinda feel discriminated :D
I personally think both are great. I use the Mac for some programming and for content creation. I use the PC for my business and also for some gaming. Both have there advantages and dis-advantages.
I think that the problem is people go way, way, way to far. Some people say that people are stupid and become totally rude to people for having their own opinions. When you think about it, it's almost like if you were eating french fries (for lack of a better food) and someone comes up to you and whacks it out of you hand and says you're a stupid idiot, why the heck are you eating french fries. Unfortunately some people let it get to that point. LOL did anyone get that? :D
i am a technical on both, and i can see why each side loves what they use, my only issue on the apple side is you pay a premium price for the hardware, but their o/s works good for it due to the fact that the hardware is designed specifically for the operating system
