You know you are doing it, we all do it, whether it is a small lie, or a big, we are all liars..... Life is a big show and we all actors..... But tell me why do we lie though?......Considering the fact that we know the truth will soon be out, the trouble which we will cause, and the lack of trust we bring among ourselves or have you become such a great liar that you no longer blink before a lie?.....Has it become automatic, to the point which you actually strongly believe in those lies?....Please enlighten me my friends!

That's a good question, and although I'm definitely not one to know human nature, I think I have the answer. You see, humans in general are self-absorbed, self-promoting herd animals. That "top dog" instict is something we all have (even me, by glavin!), and we all are willing to go to some degree to save our skins. In other words, we obviously have the need to feel that everything is all right, and lying probably serves as a quick temporary reflex or a "patch" to a problem. Obviously one of nature's biggest blunders, lying still occasionally works out, but very rarely. I think I would like to see how often myself...*googles*

Lol!........Wow, I certainly agree with that Rebecca.....But though it might give us that warm comfort for a while, sooner or later we will have to deal with the truth and at that point there will be nowhere to run. I find it to be more effective to simply speak your peace regardless the consequences or faults at the moment which you are being approached instead of escalating the situation to a much more dramatic and embarassing situation in a later setting. But even then you are so right when you say lying still occasionally works out but very rarely!.........

It certainly is?......I wonder if it will ever be possible to convince all human beings that lying only gives you a certain comfort at that certain moment when you are being approached but what will you do when the truth catches up to you?.....And in reality do you not end up only being a lost soul after telling so many lies?..........It is almost impossible for one to break the habit, I find it to be quite a serious problem!.........You know?!

Go to church and freshen up on your knowledge. Lying is the number one sin. Everyone is a sinner according to the Bible. Bible is also my life rule book as well.

I love the bible thoughi have not invested much time really reading it thoroughly. But i do agree that lying is the number one sin and believe that everyone is sinner. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind about that. But typically speaking does one really make the attempt to stop sinning, or do we all just simply accept the fact that we are sinners and continue to sin....

Lying is the wrong way of hiding something (breaking the trust and getting out of trouble), somehow getting an advantage (misdirection to avoid the rules or consequences), or making yourself look better in others eyes (puffed up pride) - thinking that you are some sort of hotshot when you really are not.

And of course lying is just another form of manipulation to get your own way for some sort of personal agenda. And an agenda is something that is usually planned out with a goal in mind irregardless of what happens to others. Lying is a plain dishonest and untrustworthy act which is a direct insult to the one you are lying to, because of a lack of respect to others.

Unfortunately these are some reasons why people risk try to take the easy way out. I know I would hate to be on the receiving end of a lie when it is something important and then finding out about it. It is a horrible feeling like getting sneaked up on from behind and getting cold cocked in the head with a baseball bat (yeah I know an exaggerated analogy to prove a point). It could be a little white lie or a devious scheme where I am scammed out of something. In either case earning trust back would be difficult at best - if at all.

ya.. some people like to take the easy way out and lie...
some people will lie in their life.. just how many lies they do in their life time..

Wow isn't it funny?....... I definitely believe this is the true meaning of lying. You have broken down the act of lying down in a way that truly stands with my perspective of why people lie to others or why we lie at all.I could simply say that lying is a devious act and i think that the more people start to realize how much they are actually hurting themselves as to the other person while lying, the faster they can do something about it....But truly what are the chances of that?

Lieing is not always bad, If the natzi knocked at your door asking if you had any jews in your house You sure wouldn't wanna tell the truth. Like the guy stated before You kind to have to look at it from a primitive mans perspective on why we have these certain quality's. We obviously Do have this erge's to protect our self's or just wanna fit into a crowd, Maintain our own existence or Our culture/society's existence. Honestly We probably lie more than we know, Using them to boost story's and exaggerate them Or even just to fill in memory blanks. There was this study were People were given 5 child hood memory's and explain what happend to them. After they were done they were told 2 or the story's Didn't really happen, and they asked to guess which ones and a lot of the time they didn't know. We are not This super smart machine we have many bad traits, We are pattern seekers which often can cause us to misinterpret reality. Why do some people lie more than others ? Maybe there insecure and feel they have to lie to protect them self's or maybe they don't really understand the beauty of truth or in some cases maybe they have a bad memory.
