but now we have Obama and before I have opinions on him, I have to wait and see what he does
I sincerely and whole-heartedly applaud this statement. Thank you for being willing to give him a chance before throwing him under the proverbial bus. Unfortunately many of your fellow McCain supporters (whether they were supporters of his in the primaries or not) seem to think that the end of the world is upon us.
It seems that a lot of people I've talked to were Romney supporters in the primaries and were reluctantly voting for McCain. Wonder how that race (Obama v. Romney) would have shaped up...
Once the euphoria dies down, it we will see if Obama puts his money where his mouth is as regarding his policies. I think he was the best of both candidates and seems more level headed and can hopefully repair some of the damage caused by bush regeime. Loving the fact that Kenya has declared a national holiday !!
I hate to make this seem only about race but like it or not, it is a very relevant issue.
I'm a Malaysian Chinese Non-Muslim who's lived in a country run by the "native" Malays for 50 years - same party, same bunch of clowns. There is NO hope that a person who's not Muslim, not Malay will ever become Prime Minister. Same with Singapore - I don't think there ever will be a Muslim, Malay Prime Minister in my life time. Try and find a country where the leader is not a member of its majority demographic. There are not many.
Love it, hate it, race factors. Obama's victory proves once again that America's democracy works. You should be proud that you are a part of it.
