being a british geek i just wanted to know what was the steroetypical view of british people i ask most americans i know on games and they always seems to say "posh" "drunks" "bad teeth" do any of you think this? the view of americans that i hear about here in britain is "fat" "mcdonalds" this is not my view and please do not be offended, also another thing that interests me is the accent differance, for example there are words and phrases that americans would say that would just be strange if you said them in britian for example the word "fanny" is thought to be a bum or bottom bag in america but over here its thought of as something MUCH differant i would be interested to hear from you geeks what you think about the differences between you and what difference the "Pond" inbetween us makes

-Many Thanks Adam - (SORRY FOR REALLY BAD SPELLING)

I am probably one of the few people that have probably more respect for british people then most other british people. So that being said I guess I am not a "typical" american nor do I claim to be ?

Maybe I have only met the upper class or so I feel but I have never thought of any of them as such low class people. AS for americans there is that large group of white trash and inconsiderate and immature part. I am sure someone that is british probably has the same view of people from america possibly and see the "ghetto" in brittain.

Every country has a nice part and a "ghetto" part, but I get what you mean.

dunno where you get off "I'm not a typical american" no offense but is that you're way of making yourself feel special? I don't know a single american who has thought british people are ghetto everyone I know thinks they are cool and if anything british accent makes you seem smart... So I don't know where you get off on that, either it makes you feel good about yourself thinking most Americans are white trash (which isn't true dumbasses just like to think it is, take note this is coming from a black person) and you think you're above them. OR you are just ignorant, no offense not trying to be mean I'm just saying.

On a side note, ALL YOU BRITS HAVE BAD TEETH!!!! Hahahaha I'm just playin' -_^

I think there's a big difference in our Profanity.

(i don't mean to be bypassing any filter if there is one, i just want to go thru all the words)
At least where I live, F*ck, Sh*t, Assh*le, B*tch, and some others, are really common just in regular conversation.

Guy 1: Yo, did you see that new movie?
Guy 2: Yeah, it looks f*ckin awesome.
Guy 1: Sh*t, I can't see it today, my mom's being a b*tch.
Guy 2: F*ck you, I'm still going haha.

That's like, every day. When I think of British people, I can't imagine that dialog.

"f*ck" is actually common in britain. Used differently.
That kind of conversation probably won't take place though.
The profanity is very different.

"Assh*le" isn't common in britain.
"Sh*t" is used, but it isn't as common.
"B*tch" is used sometimes, not an everyday word.

Again, this is not the place for this type of language and conversation. I'm not a prude by any stretch of the imagination, but I don't need to read this on a family site. Just some food for thought.

This is one difference between Americans and British. Americans have problems with ANY profanity whatsoever on a family site/ANY tv show.
The British don't give a sh*t if you swear on daytime television. If it's beeped out, it's okay. After the watershed, there isn't even beeping out needed. So they also don't care if you swear on a family site.

Besides, this isn't a family site. This is rated PG-13 (or just 13+).

If that were true in the slightest HBO would cease to exist as well as 98 percent of American movies. There is a time and place for everything, and a post laced with profanity especially in response to a question where your post along with Act X's was out of place.

The question wasn't what do American's think of British slang and their terms used for profanity. It was What do Americans think of british people. If the first thing that pops into your head is profanity then it says way more about who you are then anything else.

Most Americans don't have a problem with profanity, but again Most of us aren't people who giggle like a 5 year old girl every time it's used.

Last I knew 13 year olds were still kids, and still part of families. No one comes to Geeks! expecting or needing to see unwarranted and unnecessary language being used by the few that think it's cool.

I never said it was cool. I never actually use it. I mentioned it's usage in the two countries.
I responded to Act X. I don't usually use this kind of language.
It was a discussion of the profanity in the two countries.
