Download Our Windows 7 Tips!

I still don't get the total adoration of mac fans, a Windows based computer, with 3rd party software and even some open source software is more than a match for any mac. Ok both sets of PC types have Office suites available, Nero is excellent for making dvd's, Adobe suites are great for photo editing.... i can go on and on about video editing software, networking software. Ok there has to be a lot of software installed for protection and security of windows based PC but surely a powerful processor, memory and graphics card should handle this with no problems?

what about Iworks and Ilife

Mac was built as the "computer for the rest of us", meaning it is a GREAT home computer. It is very Home User oriented, as evident with iLife and such.

Windows on the other hand was built for Businesses and Enterprises with dedicated IT Staff. These businesses have very complex needs which can only be satisfied through complex controls and operation (there is no way around it). In essence, the Home User, up until recently, has been a secondary thought to Microsoft.

If you choose your OS based upon its original design philosophy, Mac is great for Home Users, while Windows is great for Business.

I completely agree with this. You don't have nearly as many problems with software on the mac side because there's not a billion companies writing code for the programs on a mac. It's meant to fill a niche market.

Pc's have to be flexible enough to adapt to any and all types of programs, whether it be for home or for business. Which is why Windows still has a demanding lead in usage, because it can adapt to business needs where mac has always struggled.

I get to test software on my PC with 30 day demos and decide if it is right for me, if I like it, I buy it. Most good software runs perfectly smooth, I'm not denying there is a lot of crap out there, but one can find the good stuff just by reading a little. I have no problems at all in this regard.
On the other hand not one single app/program on my work Mac is above crashing. OS-X in my opinion can be inherently unstable, more so then Windows.

I agree as well.

Businesses have an IT department to fall back on.

Home users have their friends, or if they have to, they will go to some store to fix it.

How often do you like to fix your friends computers? You can't tell them, "Well, you should have done this. You shouldn't have installed Norton. You should have gotten this extra RAM. You shouldn't have clicked that. Oh, it was built by a friend and you don't know where he got the software from?"

With a Mac, you don't have nearly as many problems on the software nor the hardware side because PC's HAVE to be flexible for whatever cheap thing you buy from Pacific Mall. It is meant to be customized. It has to work with EVERYTHING. And because of that, there are going to be problems.

My dad loves fixing up computers. He goes and grabs old hardware and puts it all together. A motherboard didn't work, he found out it was a capacitor and put on another one. A hard drive stopped working? He opened it up and fixed it. I don't know how, but he did.

He loves tinkering with computers, and he learned it himself (he's now close to 70 I think). PC's are great for that!

So use the computer for what you want to use it for. If people want to spend the extra money for better usability, let them! You may think they are wasting money, but maybe they aren't geeks. And they know that Apple Store service is pretty darn good.

An Intel based Mac can run both Windows & OS X, an OEM PC cannot.

Sorry but Mac OS X works a heck of a lot better then Windows does. Ew, Those stupid registry files make me shudder. When you buy a Mac you get the best damn OS out there.
