Download Our Windows 7 Tips!

I still don't get the total adoration of mac fans, a Windows based computer, with 3rd party software and even some open source software is more than a match for any mac. Ok both sets of PC types have Office suites available, Nero is excellent for making dvd's, Adobe suites are great for photo editing.... i can go on and on about video editing software, networking software. Ok there has to be a lot of software installed for protection and security of windows based PC but surely a powerful processor, memory and graphics card should handle this with no problems?

pixelmater is good as well

and dont forget iLife and the pro tools that are mac only.

Apples final cut studio with motion and all the others are mac only and they are used too much. they even have university courses for those programs.

Gimp is trash compared to Photoshop.

i tried adobe cs4 and it sucked massive balls. there was about 12 times the amount of features i need, and none of the ones i actually need. i spent about 3 ours straight messing with it then gave up

Get an older version. I have several versions of Photoshop, 7.0 is my mainstay. Does more then what I need, and is very quick. I haev been using photoshop since 1994, so I understand it very well, it is no kids toy.

What the hell are all these negative comments on Photoshop CS4 Extended?

I use it and it's by far the greatest I've used.

It's nowhere near as simple as other programs I've used but it produces the best results with a little knowledge.

Some people like "simple". LOL! But they still want grand results.

the main reason i dont like cs4 is next time your running it cheeck out how much memory its useing and how much of your processor and whats the extra feature they put in? painting directly onto 3d models wich most people will never use (i have and i like mudbox better for it) and you can rotate your canvase wich i will admit is an awsome feature but PainterX has had it or a year or so now

Painting onto a 3D model is only in Extended, which is intended for people who'll need such a feature. Photoshop isn't a simple every day average persons application, it's a full blown professional multipurpose tool. Just because you have no use for a feature doesn't mean others won't. It's there if needed, there was obviously a demand for it otherwise they wouldn't have put it in.

Most people I know don't use smart objects, dispite how useful they are, but there are others who use them every chance they can. Should they remove them because some don't use them? Of course not, it's there as an option. You're paying for it so why not make use of it?
