Okay maybe not really, but I've noticed an interesting trend at the pump.
When gas prices were through the roof we could get 30 mpg in my girlfriends Saturn. It's a 10 gallon tank and we'd get at or slightly above 300 miles to the tank. Hens 30 mpg.
Now that gas prices have come down we aren't getting anywhere near 30 mpg. we get closer to 24 mpg. (240 miles to the 10 gallon tank) Our driving habits remain the same, so what gives??
My theory: They wanted to lower gas prices to calm peoples nerves. However, they really can't lower them and still need a large amount per barrel of oil. So instead of charging more, they decrease the grade and quality of gas. This way it doesn't burn as efficient, thus causing more frequent trips to the pump. Thus they still get our money.
Thoughts?
