For me it's simple.

I will buy both.

I have one Macintosh, and 3 PCs.

I've preordered 2 copies of Windows 7 Home Premium.

I love the GUI in Win7 and also in Leopard, only good stuff to say about both. Great improvement as far as Windows is concerned and for Mac? well, this is the first time I use a Mac since like '99. I've had my iMac for since like OCt. 08.
So I agree with RK for those who can. U def. need to buy both !!!! they both kik azz.

but because I believe (personal opinion) their more Windows based users in the world. Windows will win as far as sales.

Not sure what you mean by win? If you mean sales then Windows will always come out on top as there are more Windows computers out there than Macs.

If you mean which will be better, that's very subjective. I've only seen screen shots of Snow Leopard, but for the upgrade price you'd probably be a fool not to buy it (in-fact I pre-ordered my copy for £7.95 on the up-to-date program, £7.95 for a brand new OS is ridiculous!) I've has a play with the Windows 7 BETA, and my conclusion was that it was a very nice version of Windows...but it was still Windows, it still bugs you constantly with update messages, the control panel is still organised in the most unintelligible way, and it still uses the Windows Registry system. Probably the best version of Windows there's been, but frankly it's still Windows, and that for me makes Snow Leopard the winner!

Oh believe me, I know what you're saying "It's still Windows!"

I still have a "love-hate" relationship with Windows and PCs.

I love my Mac.

But I miss being able to build a computer from scratch, and upgrade as I see fit.

My next logical step in the Mac world will be to save up for a year or so and buy a Mac Pro.

In the meantime I'll work on PCs in addition to my Mac.

Yup, isn't that exactly what I said.
That's what I meant. As far as better it's up to the individual as far as sales? Well, we all know Windows will win!!

Totally right.

People certainly won't all turn to Mac over one OS version change. But if Microsoft continue to deceive, maybe someday we'll be asking "Hey, who's gonna win?!" with reason as they will be near 50-50. (But we'll have to go through some good amount of time again.)

But if you ask me on my individual point of view... I can't answer; I'm not sure if I still believe an OS can really please me from A to Z, and as there are already OSes which I consider pretty good, it doesn't make new versions very special to me. I think this OS-new-version thing makes people talk a lot for not much. Lets wait for the next big deal instead. If OS companies think we get all excited about small changes, we're definitely losers in this.

In sales, Windows, of course, since most PC OEMs install Windows and only one (technically two: Apple and Psystar, although I doubt they are still in business when OS X SL comes out) installs Mac OS.
In features and looks, however, Mac OS X Snow Leopard will definitely win. I've used a pre-release edition of it and it was simply great. I LOVED it.

Windows 7 is a great improvement, but still was too "Vista." The UAC was still there. The Aero, which has improved a bit, is still there. And still a bit of a copy of other things, like KDE4. And a bit of a copy of Mac. But all in all, a big improvement.

Mac OS X Snow Leopard feels very unified. It feels very secure (It just does, if you use it) and it feels polished, finished. Not much has changed since leopard in the gui department, but this time they've got it right. And it's a lot faster. A LOT faster than previous editions of Mac OS.

In features and improvements, Mac OS X Snow Leopard Wins.
But it is too early to tell since both are months away from the final release. And I'm sure neither will be bad.

Well, as I always said, I don't use my Mac much and when I do finally use it sometimes I have to whip out the Mac books (lol) so I wouldn't really see how slow it can go. You say SL feels very secure, polished and finished.
My question to you, Knowing my background use, Would it be worth the upgrade investment? Since functionality is not a priority but GUI (graphics/visualization) is (this applies only to my Mac) . Ur saying they didn't change much in the GUI dept.
So let me see if I can get my question straight...
ok, ok, My iMac is eye candy really, I love the jumpy, 3d, colored icons and all the cutesy stuff since not much has change in SL should I even make the upgrade? No new eye candy in SL? really?

I will def. purchase win7 (I use it. It's awesome) and because yes, I believe the bummed alot of stuff off of Apple (sorry win lovers but true) and I love the GUI in Apple. So win7 is a definite.

btw, what do you consider fast.
I consider this fast. My pc (server) has assigned letters to the letter I think "L" or higher and it's still fast. I think that something pulling that much juice not even mentioning the lights, fans (extras), it never locks/freezes on me and runs as if all u have on it is the OS. So if it was slow I would understand.

what is your definition of fast on the apple.
Tell me, It is fast because...
I ask because u say u've somewhat tested the SL already.
I can't seem to get this question right.

1) Snow Leopard upgrade is $29 (assuming you are upgrading from Leopard). It is definitely worth the price. With all the OpenCL and Quicktime X and whatnot they have put there it is definitely worth the upgrade.
2) They haven't changed much of the GUI since they got it right with leopard. There's some new eye candy but nothing special. It is Leopard, but polished.

But, as 7 isn't MUCH of an improvement in the GUI department in Windows, Snow Leopard isn't much of an improvement in Mac.

3) It is fast compared to Leopard on the same machine. I only had two days with snow leopard and it wasn't my machine, but since I could use it full time, and I could use leopard on an identically (almost) configured machine, the Snow Leopard felt faster. Applications started up faster, GUI effects were faster(smoother) (not that they were slow in leopard). The machine started up faster.
And no Applications crashed. Safari ran smoother. Quicktime playback improved.

I consider fast something that multi-tasks without problems. Snow Leopard does that brilliantly. Windows XP didn't do that well, Vista even worse, but 7 does that more than good.

Oh, and it's fast because it's an Intel-only OS now. Power PC isn't supported. Most of the important software on it is completely rewritten.

I know! I love win7 due to the swift capability of multitasking. U say there isn't much difference in win7 and prior windows. I disagree. I think that win7 kicks window azz! as far as windows improvements over all.

One thing I could say about Apple is that they make upgrading easy. There OS's cost change and the Upgrade is only $29? sweet.

Thanks for your reply.

There is much difference. But the GUI hasn't changed much (Aero). Yes, the superbar is there. But the rest is kind of Vista, only bluer and less dark.
